The Necromancer's Nest, Chapter One: Buried Memories

I've been having those dreams again; the ones with him in it. The golden light which has brought me so much confusion and angst. Ever since that evening I've tried to banish those memories through intimacy with many other Fate beings.

My name is Aiden Swan and I was born into the spell casting race known as Salem, twenty-two years ago in the sleepy town of Midnight Hallow. The beginning of my life was simple and clean, but that all changed when I turned seventeen and had to register my genetic code to the True Fae.

The race of colourful and immortal creatures known as True Fae govern Fate's laws. Upon reaching seventeen years of age, all Fate beings must register their genetic code with the True Fae database. The day I registered, I learnt that I inherited powers much older and darker than that of my parents.

Unlike the rest of the Swan Coven, I was born a Necromancer. Necromancers are an ancient and powerful race of spell casters who had control over the undead and pathogens. They were thought to be extinct by all of Fate, but I guess we were all wrong.

My family processed necromantic ancestry and those ancient genes had manifested within me. As I grew older my true powers began to emerge. My hair became lighter and lighter until it became white as snow. The white hair was a symbol of the Necromancers. Upon reaching the age of twenty-one my aging reached a stop and the true immortal powers of the Necromancers had fully taken over me. But it was the lust I felt which frightened me the most.

The day I registered my genetic code, my name traveled across Fate and scientists came from far and wide to study the last Necromancer. They told me how my kind was known for having stronger urges... than other Fate beings. But I never imagined that they would be this powerful.

It was then that I met that golden light and I let those primal urges take over me... and for the first time since discovering the dark powers which slept within me, I was happy.

But they took him from me...

I moved to the capital city of Fate the year I finished high school, and for the past four years I've called Starlight Shores my home. After he was taken from me, I had to run away from Midnight Hallow. But in the end it doesn't matter how far I run, because every time I fall asleep, I see his face staring back at me.
